Browns Draft Pick: Zak Zinter

  • 85 – G Zak Zinter, Michigan
    • Zak was a four-star recruit out of Massachusetts. He committed to Michigan and would become a four-year starter for the Wolverines. He was first-team All-Big 10 in his junior and senior years. However, Zak would have to miss the National tile run due to suffering a leg injury during the Ohio State game. In my opinion, Zak’s strengths are his reliability, leadership, and technique. He did not commit a single penalty or let up a sack in his final year at Michigan. Also, he is excellent as a pulling guard. I am sure Stefanski loved that about it tape!
    • I know some Browns fans were bummed about not getting a dynamic RB/WR at this pick, but I think when we look back this will be an excellent pick for the Browns. Will Zak play right away? No (barring an injury), but with two aging guards, they need a succession plan. You have to remember the Browns draft for the future, that way rookies have a little more time to develop and adjust to the NFL. It will be great for him to learn and develop under one of the best guard duos in the league.
    • Best Case Scenario: Zak turns out to be a mix of Bitonio and Teller. If he could have a 10-year career with some pro-bowls mixed in, that would be a home run for AB and the Browns.
