Browns Draft Pick: Jamari Thrash

Browns NFL Draft Series: The Browns took Jamari Thrash in the 5th round.

  • Jamari Thrash was a three-star recruit from Georgia. Thrash played at Georiga State for four years before transferring to Lousiville for his final season. He is a little on the older side of a draft prospect at 23 years old. Thrash had a phenomenal 2022 season for Georgia State with 1,122 yards and 18.4 yards per catch. Last year, at Lousiville, he finished with 858 yards and 13.6 yards per catch. Thrash dealt with a broken hand for much of the season.
  • Thrash’s best attribute is his ability to separate. He is not lightning fast, running a 4.46 40, but he is quick and elusive in the open space. His elusiveness is what I was most impressed with as I watched his tape. He has a great ability to make a defender miss and gain extra yardage. I would like to see him cover the ball a little more when he is making those moves. Steve Smith Sr. raved about how smart Trash is, stating that he can run any route. He also said his ability to get open is excellent. Finally, he mentioned that he thought Louisville did not use him correctly. His main point was that he was running too many short routes. I will link his breakdown to this post.
  • Man, would it be awesome to have the next Nucua or St. Brown in this year’s draft? Not the fastest, not the biggest, but a guy who knows how to get open and get positive yards. His best-case scenario is he goes back to playing like he did in his final year at Georgia State. Taking the top off the defense and finding the holes in the middle of the field. The Browns have been looking for WRs with big play ability. Like our other draft picks, he does not have to play right away. Hopefully, as a rookie, he can have a few hundred yards with some big chunk plays throughout the year.
