Kevin Stefanski & Andrew Berry Extended

The day has finally come! Stefanski and AB are extended for the foreseeable future. It was widely known that an extension for both the Head Coach and the General Manager of the Cleveland Browns was coming this year. However, you never know until they put the pen to paper. I am sure that all sides are happy to get this done before training camp. For the first time in my life, the Browns have stability. This state of the franchise is something the fans have been seeking for a long long time. To have a HC and GM that are like-minded and are in lockstep is awesome to see in Cleveland.

Why the extension is well deserved:

  • This four-year stretch starting in 2020 is the highest winning percentage since 1986-89.
  • Two playoff trips and a playoff win against the Steelers.
  • The culture in Cleveland has done a 180. The Browns went from a place that was undesirable to now a top destination for players.
  • They are shown to take calculated risks. Whether that is on draft picks, extending players early, free agents, or trades
  • They have shown the ability to make necessary changes. Even if it will be met with some backlash. I think of the QB situation after 2021 or the firing of coordinators. In a time when they are making the playoffs, they are still holding a high standard for everyone. Finally, Stefanski did not take the stubborn approach and changed his offense for the betterment of his players.

The contract details rarely come out for the HC and GM, but we can assume it’s at least three more years for each side. I hope to see them in Cleveland for the next decade! What are your thoughts on the extension?
