For this mock draft, I decided to make a trade… The most talked about trade candidate, Greg Newsome. I actually like Newsome on the Browns! I think he is a solid outside corner. He just happens to be the most likely trade candidate because of how well Martin Emerson has played. I don’t think the Browns can pay both him and Newsome. The Browns will get the most value for him either now or possibly during the season if a team gets desperate. Also, AB has a great track record of drafting corners.
I traded Newsome and the 85th pick to the Washington Commanders for the 36th and 78th picks. This is essentially giving the Browns an extra 2nd round pick while also jumping 7 up in the 3rd. This would be a steal if the Browns could pull this off. I think the Commanders would do this for a few reasons: they have a plethora of picks (including five in the top 100: 36, 40, 67, 78, and 100), it looks like they may have missed on last year’s first-round cornerback in Forbes, and new Head Coach Dan Quinn will want to vastly improve his defensive unit.
- 36 – Jordan Morgan is projected as a late-first or early-second round pick. He could be the left tackle of the future.
- 54 – Ricky Pearsall is a guy I think would have an immediate impact on the Browns. He is very athletic and registered a 9.90 RAS score. Could you imagine Cooper and Moore on the outside with Jeudy and Pearsall in the slot? You will still have Tillman developing as well.
- 78 – Jeremiah Trotter Jr. is an athletic LB who would be a great fit next to JOK. The Browns need athletic LBs to keep up with Lamar and Fields.
- 156 – Dallin Holker is a productive TE out of Colorado State. I think he could fill the Harrison Bryant role well.
- 206 – Isaiah Davis averaged nearly 7 YPA in his final season at South Dakota State. He has a 9.01 RAS score and has some potential to be a 3rd down back.
- 243 – C.J. Hanson out of Holy Cross. I don’t know much about him but he has a 9.86 RAS score. If he could turn into anything it would be a win at this late in the draft!
