Let’s start off with the scary news out of Browns camp yesterday. D’Onta Foreman was taken by helicopter to Roanoke, VA due to a hit to the head and neck area. After a long couple of hours, positive news came from the Browns saying that all CT scans were negative and Foreman was smiling and thankful for the Browns precaution. Last night, Foreman posted that he was thankful for all the support he received, and after some rest, he would be back better than ever. This is undoubtedly a best-case scenario for Foreman and the Browns. Shoutout to the Browns medical staff for taking extreme caution in this incident. When you are in a remote place like the Greenbrier and the nearest hospital is over an hour and a half drive, you don’t want to take any chances. If I had to guess, I think the Browns medical staff with take caution bringing him back. About a week of rest, followed by another week or two of a ramp-up period. The sooner we see Foreman working out on the side, the better. He should be ready come week one.
Now we can talk about what was the best/most intense practice the Browns have had so far. From everything I saw, the offense looked great. Watson was throwing the ball all over the field. He hit Tillman on a nice 30-40 yard bomb, Moore on a toetap in the back of the endzone, and Cooper on a fade overtop of Emerson. Also, we saw Njoku win a one-on-one vs. Thornhill which resulted in the defense and coach doing push-ups. All reports indicate that Njoku looked pretty much unguardable. The Defense had their moments as well. Some nice pass breakups and a Delpit interception to end the practice. Overall, it seemed to be a very productive practice.
Other news and mentions:
- JOK extension? – Rumors are circulating that a JOK extension is imminent. He is working off to the side for a second straight day with no apparent injury. Could we see JOK extended by the time the Browns head back to Cleveland?
- Stadium talk – the city of Cleveland proposed a total investment of $461 million for a Browns stadium update on the lakefront. The city will waive the Browns rent, allow them control over the muni lot, and $367m in tax revenue over the next 30 years. The Haslam’s indicated that it does not change their mind about providing a world-class experience for Browns fans and what best benefits Cleveland and Northeast Ohio. So basically, a “thanks but no thanks” response from the Haslams. Brook Park seems inevitable at this point. The lakefront does not offer the space the Browns need for their vision of a domed stadium.
- Culture in Cleveland – I wanted to point out two interviews that I have listened to recently. Dustin Hopkins said that he has never felt more welcomed by an organization than he did in Cleveland. Talking about the way the Browns make you and your family feel a part of the organization. Elijah Moore said he has never in his life had a team closer than what the Browns have. He loves being on the Browns and would like to be with the team for the remainder of his career. A huge shoutout to Kevin Stefanski and Andrew Berry for this shift in culture. Also, now that the Browns have some stability, the Haslams are showing they are fantastic owners and truly want what is best for the team.
- Sunday Ticket Lawsuit – A judge has overturned the verdict of $4.7 billion in the NFL Sunday Ticket case. This would undoubtedly affect the cap. Also, can the NFL please lower the price? It really is an outrageous price to pay.
