2025 Draft Preview and Targets

This will be my last post on the NFL draft until the midpoint or so of the college football season. At that time, we should start seeing some “way too early” potential targets for the Browns. This post will cover the Browns current picks and the positions they will be looking for in each round.

Browns 2025 Picks: 8 Total Picks

  • Round One – 1 pick
  • Round Two –  1 pick
  • Round Three – 1 pick
  • Round Four – 1 pick
  • Round Five – 0 picks (Za’Darius Smith Trade)
  • Round Six – 3 (Browns original pick, Za’Darius Smith trade, Donovan Peoples-Jones trade)
  • Round Seven – 1 pick (Za’Darius Smith Trade) *Browns traded their pick for Dustin Hopkins.

Rounds 1-2 Targets

  • Wide Reciever
    • We will see what happens with Cooper but currently, he and Elijah Moore are in the last year of their contract. With all of the money being handed out to wide receivers, I don’t see how they keep both in 2025. If Tillman does not take the step we are hoping for, the Browns will be interested in a first-round receiver.
  • Offensive Tackle
    • This will all depend on how Wills plays this year. If Wills continues to show a lack of effort throughout the season, the Browns will need to address the left tackle position. It is highly possible the Browns are without Wills and Conklin next season.
  • Edge
    • The Browns are currently deep at the edge, but it is a premium position. We know how much the Browns value a player who can disrupt the QB. Putting another pass rusher in this group would ensure the Browns D-Line stays as one of the NFL’s best. Also, the player would be able to develop with Za’Darius still on the roster.

Rounds 3-4 Targets

  • Tight End
    • David Njoku is still well within his prime, but he is the only TE on the roster for the 2025 season. Rounds 3 and 4 are great spots to take a developmental TE behind Njoku.
  • Running Back
    • The Browns chose to address the 2024 running back room by adding Nyheim Hines and Davonta Forman this offseason. Also, the Browns restructured Nick Chubb’s deal for this season.  I think they will need to add a young back to eventually take over the lead role. The 3rd or 4th round sounds about right for the Browns to take a back.

Rounds 5-7 Targets

  • Defensive Back
    • It is not a true Andrew Berry draft with a DB. With three picks in the sixth round, I’m sure he will take a chance on someone.
  • Offensive Line
    • AB has said that they are offensive lineman snobs, so they will continue to draft and develop this position. If they don’t take a tackle early, they will take one here. If not, it will be someone on the interior line.
  • Linebacker
    • Jordan Hicks signed a two-year contract this offseason. He and JOK (likely an extension coming) will be the only proven linebackers on the team. Like Bookie Watson in this draft, I see them taking another linebacker in the later rounds.

This will certainly not be the same amount of picks for the Browns by the time the 2025 Draft comes around. Through trades during the season, offseason, or during the draft those numbers could change. In addition, the Browns could add a few more picks through compensation picks. I will update the Browns picks throughout the year.

What does everyone else think?? This will be a fun draft having our first-round pick back!
