Linebacker Christian Kirksey and Wide Receiver Rashard Higgins signed a one-day contract to retire as Cleveland Browns. Kirko was drafted by the Browns in the 3rd round from Iowa in 2014. He played six years for the Browns racking up 463 tackles. Most importantly he received the Walter Peyton Man of the Year award in 2018 with the Browns and in 2022 with the Texans. Hollywood Higgins was drafted by the Browns in the 5th round from Colorado State in 2016. He recorded 1,890 yards and 12 touchdowns in his six years as a member of the Browns. Higgins was highly involved in the Cleveland community as well.
Man, I can’t tell you how excited I am for these two. In the darkest of Browns times, these two had a positive influence. Kirko with his signature “DAWG CHECK” on the jumbotron is as good as it gets! And of course, one of the best celebrations in Browns’ history, the Hollywood Red Carpet Walk. Such awesome memories of watching these two play in the Orange and Brown.
You could tell when speaking to the media that they are truly proud to retire as Browns. Although they did not win much, they built the foundation we have today. I don’t think you would have seen players do this 5-10 years ago. Speaks to the culture we now have in Cleveland.
I look forward to watching these two smash some guitars this season!
