- Cleveland Browns Updates from the Owner’s Meetings
- Browns owners Jimmy and Dee Haslam stated that the Browns can renovate the existing Cleveland Browns stadium for about $1 billion. The other option is a domed stadium in the Brook Park area that will cost over $2 billion. From what I have read, the Browns are leaning towards a brand new, state-of-the-art facility in Brook Park.
- The Browns are close to extending both GM Andrew Berry and Head Coach Kevin Stefanski. This will be a well-deserved extension! I am excited that the Browns will have stability in the future. The Browns have not extended a coach since they have returned to the NFL.
- It appears it will either be the Browns or the Packers who will play the Eagles in Brazil the first week of the season. I think it would be cool if the Browns had the opportunity to do so! Also, it wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world to not play in Philly!
- Rumors are swirling that the Browns will go to a permanent all-white facemask. They have been leaving breadcrumbs such as their profile picture having a helmet with a white facemask and the Cleveland Browns store is only selling hats with a white facemask.
- Let me hear your thoughts on the updates from the past couple of days!!
- NFL Rule Changes
- Kick-Off Rule – The NFL is taking inspiration from the XFL. The ball will still be kicked from the 35-yard line, but the kicking and return teams will only be 10 yards across from each other. The kicking team will be at the opposing 45, while the return team will be at their own 35. The kicking team cannot start running until the returner catches it. Inside of the 20 is the landing zone. If the ball goes into the end-zone it starts at the 30 yard-line. If it is out-of-bounds or short of the 20, the offense will start at the 40-yard line. – What do you guys think of the new rule? I am personally a big fan! It helps the Browns just signed one of the best returners in the league, Nyheim Hines! Did the Browns predict this was coming?
- Trade Deadline – The deadline will now be the Tuesday after the 9th week in the NFL season. The Browns proposed the deadline to be after the 10th week. Look for them to do this again next year.
- Hip Drop Tackle Banned – The highly debated hip drop tackle was banned. I get the player-safety aspect but man is this going to be difficult to control. Hopefully, it is only for the very egregious ones.
- Emergency QB – NFL teams will now be able to activate a QB from the practice squad an unlimited number of times.
- Christmas Day – The NFL will continue to play games on Christmas even though it falls on a Wednesday this year.
Hope you all enjoyed reading the updates! Go Browns!
