Game Day: Browns vs. Cowboys

The wait for the Browns 2024 season is (almost) over. The Browns kick off against the Cowboys at 4:25. It appears to be a perfect day for football in Cleveland. In the game blog, I will review any injuries for the teams and my keys to a Browns victory.

  • Injury Report
    • The Browns are healthy heading into week one besides the left tackle position. Wills is out, while Conklin is questionable. It would be a huge boost if Conklin can go. The Cowboys are completely healthy coming into Cleveland. Their rookie/starting corner, Carson, popped up on the injury report for a day but was soon removed.
  • Keys to Victory
    • Use the middle of the field and pick on the Cowboys linebackers in coverage. They don’t have a linebacker or safety that can cover Njoku 1v1. Attack the rookie cornerback. Cooper should dominate when they are matched up. Finally, get something out of the run game. 100 yards or better between Foreman and Ford would be a solid outcome in week one.
    • Frustrate Ceedee Lamb in coverage. As they have done with Chase, the Browns need to stay aggressive and not allow any easy catches for Lamb. Get after Dak for all four quarters. Dak is great when he has a clean pocket, but he will make mistakes when he is under pressure. The Browns should be able to get pressure with four throughout the game continuously. This will force Dak into some bad throws. Finally, the Browns need to limit the explosive plays. This is one area that killed the Browns defense last year. The Cowboys have some playmakers that could go for big chunks if there are miscommunications in the secondary.

Here We Go Brownies, Here We Go!!
