CeeDee Lamb – The Cowboys and star WR CeeDee Lamb are in a standoff in contract negotiations. He has yet to report to camp. I believe this deal will get done because the Cowboys always seem to fold as the season approaches but it is something to watch with the Cowboys coming to Cleveland in week one. If the Cowboys wanted they could send him over for our 1st round pick next year.
Brandon Aiyuk – The Browns are believed to be out of the Aiyuk sweepstakes but you never know what could happen. Still, the most likely trade destination is Pittsburg. I don’t want to see him go there and be paired with Pickens. Also, I still don’t see how they would pay both of them around $30m. If Pickens has a good year, there is no question he will want that money. I am going to go out on a limb and say he will make it very public what he wants. The best case for the Browns is if he resigns with the 49ers. This is looking like the most likely outcome.
Ja’Marr Chase – In the wake of the Bengals making their kicker one of the highest paid at his position, Jamar Chase is still not practicing. Somehow they were able to get Tee Higgins and Trey Hendrickson to show up after both requested to be traded or a new contract. The Bengals cannot afford to start slow for a third straight season. I cannot imagine a world where they are not able to keep Burrow and Chase together. Not sure if this will get to the place where the Aiyuk situation is.
Trent Williams – Now, I know William does not need training camp to be one of the best tackles in the league but this is something to keep an eye on. With what we have heard about the O-line and if the Browns truly wanted to go all in could they make something work with the 49ers/Williams? Maybe Jed or Conklin and a mid-round pick? This is highly unlikely but would make the Browns so much better this season.
